FA Premier League STARS Launches

Electronic Arts celebrate the start of their football season

The football season has started with a vengeance and Michael Bridges is busy setting the Carling Premiership alight. Not ones to miss out on an opportunity, Electronic Arts launch their latest football game today, FA Premier League STARS, on PC and PlayStation. The 'STARS' business is to do with improving your players, who then gain, um, stars. As an arcade game, though, it's rather patchy (okay, it's poor) and is some way behind the last FIFA title.

More impressive is ISS Pro Evolution, which launches in October. We've been playing the Japanese version J-League Winning Eleven 4 and it's quite tremendous. Expect loads of footie games before the year's end. Rage's UEFA Striker looks promising, although the goalkeepers are very erratic. Sony's This Is Football is rather like Chris Sutton - yet to show...
