HEAT.NET Heads for Other Shores

Online gaming company to expand into UK and the rest of Europe

Segasoft detailed the new deal they've made with Affinity Internet Holdings and its wholly owed subsidiary, EGO Maniacs.net Ltd, in an early morning press statement. According to the release, the company have signed an exclusive agreement with the British Internet conglomerate to create Europe.HEAT.Net, a free gaming service similar to the US version of HEAT. The new service, which will be entirely free, plans to launch later this summer with a total of 22 different games, including Quake 2 and Baldur's Gate.

In the release, Greg Chiemingo, Vice President and Acting General Manager of HEAT.NET, explained the move by saying, "HEAT.NET is growing at a fantastic rate and we're ready for global expansion. In partnership with Virtual Internet Provider and EGO Maniacs.net, we welcome European gamers to the world's best online gaming community. The demand from European gamers for their own version of HEAT has been tremendous and we're more than happy to deliver."

HEAT.NET currently has over 500,000 users a month in the US and Canada. It remains to be seen whether or not the company will be able to duplicate a similar user base and advertising model in the European market.
