Bank Holiday Bonanza

Friday is biggest release day for two months

"Barbecue is cooking, sausages and chicken," sang popsters Blur on Parklife's Bank Holiday. Pointless references to popular music aside, this Friday sees a load of new games hit the shelves. Big games, too. The last time such a selection reared its head was back on June 25 when Driver, V-Rally 2 et al strode in.

The long awaited Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is the biggest name, naturally. Westwood's latest offering should fly off the shelves. However, if strategy isn't your bag, Lego Racers and Puzzle Bobble 2 also get PC outings this Friday.

What about PlayStation? The much-vaunted Speed Freaks debuts this Friday and a front cover on the Official UK PlayStation Magazine won't do it any harm either. It's not as good as Mario Kart, but then, what is? Another promising release is Namco's G-Con shoot 'em up Point Blank 2. It features a fine two-player option, but have you got two G-Cons? Oh, and there's also the small matter of Tekken 3's arrival on the Platinum label.

N64? Ho hum. Okay, so it won't be to everyone's taste, but footie management game Premier Manager enters the dugout on Friday. But don't forget Perfect Dark is on the way...
