Rare need more time - Perfect Dark delayed to April 2000
Here's one rumour we were hoping wouldn't come true: Rare's highly anticipated GoldenEye follow-up, Perfect Dark, has been delayed by another four months. Originally slated for a December release, Nintendo's mature first-person shooter will miss the crucial Christmas season and is now tentatively slated for an April 2000 release.
According to sources at Nintendo, Rare want to spend more time polishing the much-hyped sci-fi action game and implement full Expansion Pak support for even better lighting effects and smoother framerates.
Nintendo today confirmed the delay at a press event for the company's second major Christmas title, Donkey Kong 64. While the extra development time will no doubt help Rare improve the game further to meet everyone's expectations, N64 owners waiting for a new deathmatch shooter will no doubt be disappointed that their options are now limited to only one major title - Turok: Rage Wars.
Look for an update on the situation soon.
