UK PC Games Championship Grand Final This Weekend

Six teams battle for a staggering £10,000 first prize

London's premier computer games bar (as cyber cafes are called these days) The Playing Fields is hosting the Grand Final of the UK PC Games Championships this coming weekend (September 18).

The six teams to make the finals - Unlucky, Happy Campers, Special Ops, Blue Boodas, Inept and Dodgy Spider - did so by winning regional qualifiers that have been in progress over the last couple of months.

Starting at 9am on Saturday, the teams will be competing in a variety of gaming categories to really stretch them and find out who are the best gamers across the board. The games the teams will be playing are Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Test in the First Person Shooter category; Age of Empires 2 and TA Kingdoms in the RTS category. Driving games are represented by Midtown Madness and Need for Speed 4, and the Sports category is represented by Actua Soccer 3 and Jimmy White's Cueball 2.

All of the games will be played on systems using AMD's 600MHz Athlon processor, which will be nice for them.

Also attending the event will be a member of the Sports Council who has agreed to attend following the National campaign that's been running recently to get games playing recognised as a sport.

We wish 'em all luck and will let you know who has earned the right to call themselves the best UK PC Gamers next week.
