Sony announce new analogue controller and memory card
Here's the lowdown on the accessories you'll find bundled with your spanking new PlayStation2 next year.
First up, the Dual Shock 2 analogue controller. This lovely little fella is going to be pretty similar to the existing Dual Shock controller, with one major difference - with the exception of the 'start' and 'select' buttons, all the functions are analogue. Expect full analogue acceleration and braking in Gran Turismo 2000. The Dual Shock 2 will be available separately at a suggested retail price of 3,500 yen, which is around 20 of your English notes (plus tax).
Next comes the new 8Mb memory card - that's eight times bigger than its predecessor. Better still, it can transfer data at up to 250 times faster than the current model. It also incorporates the 'MagicGate' encryption security system, which will be used in future network applications. The card will be available separately for around £20. Unfortunately, there's no news regarding PocketStation2 as of yet.
