The Shadow of Amn is Growing

Some nifty little bits of info on Baldur's Gate II

With Baldur's Gate II on the horizon, the developers have let slip some new details you might be interested in. The people working on this project, it seems, are trying their best to address the concerns of the people that asked why certain features were left out of the first game.

First off, let's have a look at the presentation. This time around, instead of having no other options than 640x480, you'll be able to view the game in whatever resolution you want, but it won't be officially supported past 800x600, which is the recommended viewing resolution.

Lots of people were wondering if Tales of the Sword Coast would have 3D support. It didn't because it was slow and really didn't add much to the game. Shadows of Amn will have 3D support and OpenGL has been chosen by the team because of their experience with it, the ease of implementation and because it isn't card specific.

Baldur's Gate II will also have a load of new skills and proficiencies, a new race and 20 new kits. These were all taken from a huge list that was made from manuals and suggestions posted by players of the original game. You'll be happy to know that there'll be new monsters this time too.

More as we get it.
