SSX - Snowboard SuperX

EA announce snowboarding for PlayStation2

Electronic Arts have unveiled SSX, their first PlayStation2-only title. They also like to call it Snowboard SuperX and Snowboard Supercross for some reason. The game focuses on the exciting sport of boardercross, which involves fast, straight bits with lots of bendy, jumpy, fall-over sections.

In a press release, EA state: "To deliver the best PlayStation2 experience, Electronic Arts grounded SSX in real snowboarding physics with a true-to-life feel and sense of control, but pumped it up for arcade fun."

Having recently tried snowboarding for the first time, we shudder at the thought of 'real snowboarding physics'. Falling on your arse every other minute is less than fun. And please EA... NO VIRTUAL ROPELIFTS!

Actually, we're slightly dubious of these 'real snowboarding physics'. What we need to do is spend, say, a week at a top-notch ski resort in Canada - snowboarding by day and playing SSX in the evenings - before making a rash judgement. What do you reckon, EA?
