Acclaim Tackle the DC Market

WWF Attitude, Quarterback Club, TrickStyle, Supercross and Shadowman - how's that for a line-up?

We all knew that NFL Quarterback Club 2000 and TrickStyle would be lighting up the screens of Dreamcast gamers this fall, but the latest announcement from Acclaim reveals that the company have much bolder plans for Sega's latest system.

The publishing powerhouse have announced plans to release five signature titles in conjunction with the DC's launch this autumn. Included in this list are the aforementioned Quarterback Club and TrickStyle, along with unannounced, yet heavily rumoured, titles such as WWF Attitude, McGrath Supercross 2000 and Shadowman.

Greg Fischbach, co-founder and CEO of Acclaim Entertainment, seems to be excited about the Dreamcast, as well as all the new hardware launches. He said, "The strength of our internal studios, found in such well-known brands as Turok, Quarterback Club and Shadowman gives us a keen edge over the competition vying for market share on these new hardware entrants. We have grown the company's product development staff in preparation for the hardware transition that will ensue over the next two years."

With regard to the sports genre in particular, Fischbach said, "We claimed 25% of the sports category for the Nintendo 64 last year, have recently formed a new studio comprised of the PlayStation's hottest developers and we will have the only wrestling product available this year for the Sega Dreamcast."
