Sales of Nintendo hand-held hit million mark
The Pokeman phenomenon could push Game Boy sales in the UK to the million mark by the end of the year. Already a massive success in Japan and the United States, Pokeman gets its UK release on October 8 and it's expected to significantly boost the hardware sales of Nintendo's hand-held. Pokeman is a game which involves training little creatures which you can trade with friends - it might sound cruel but we're assured it isn't.
"Pokeman will be the biggest launch this year," THE Games' Jeremy Dale told MCV. "We're very confident of a massive success with the games, and if we replicate the performance in the US we can expect Game Boy hardware sales to triple."
Can Nintendo really sell three million Game Boys in the UK next year? That's what he's saying.
