The surprise hit of TGS remains shrouded in mystery
A drool-inducing 30 seconds of footage is all we saw of Jet Set Radio, and to be honest we're not quite sure what genre the game falls into. What we did see was footage of incredible rollerblading action, done in a distinctly European Designer's Republic style. Jet Set Radio uses a unique rendering technique that makes the visuals appear to be animated like a cartoon, even though the scenes are composed of 3D models. Though Kronos's Fear Factor on the PlayStation uses the same 'cel shader' technique, Jet Set Radio actually looks like something from MTV's Liquid Television, and is a bold step forward in visual design.
Let's just hope that Jet Set Radio has the gameplay to back up the incredible graphics, and we'll attempt to dig up more information on this tasty-looking title.
