New Star Wars Episode I Game

Star Wars: Episode I Jedi Power Battles announced for PlayStation

LucasArts have revealed plans to release an action-arcade game, called Star Wars: Episode I Jedi Power Battles, for PlayStation in spring 2000. In Jedi Power Battles, the player is presented with an escalating series of one- and two-player battles between other Jedi Knights and various intimidating adversaries from the Sith and the Trade Federation.

"Jedi Power Battles is a fast action, arcade-style game inspired by classic LucasArts titles such as Super Star Wars," said Joel Dreskin, Product Marketing Manager for LucasArts. "The game immediately thrusts players into the fray, where the lightening-quick reflexes and deft lightsabre prowess of a skilled Jedi Knight are the keys to survival and ultimate victory over enemy forces."

The game draws its inspiration from classic action-arcade games from the past, as the player can choose to play as Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Plo Koon or Adi Gallia in 10 action-packed levels. Each of the different characters offers a wide variety of skills and abilities that will greatly affect how you'll need to approach each level. The game features a point-based reward system and power-ups that will allow you to unlock new fighting moves and skills as you progress through the game.

We'll keep you posted on the status of this title as its release nears.
