UK PC Gaming Championships details

How to qualify for the Grand Final

Last week we brought you news of the Grand Final of the UK PC Gaming Championships, which takes place in London on September 18 with a £10,000 cash prize for the winning team.

There are five regional qualifiers taking place in London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Manchester in the next few weeks. There aren't many places left, although the Birmingham qualifiers have a few spaces.

"This championship is designed to bring together the country's finest gamers to find the ultimate PC champions who prove their winning tactics in a variety of games categories - Quake II is included as always," said a spokesperson for the championships. "Teams should ideally be of four players, each player skilled in at least one of the game categories."

All people interested in entering must visit the official PC Gaming Championships 1999 website.


Regional qualifiers:

London qualifier:
June 5-6 (registration closes May 29)

Prizes:
The winning team of each regional qualifier receives a cash prize of £1500. There are prizes for the highest score at each qualifier and for highest score in each game category for the entire championship.


Gaming categories:
First-person shooters: Unreal /Quake II
Realtime strategy: Age of Empires/Total Annihilation
Driving games: Motocross Madness/Need for Speed III
Sports games: Actua Soccer 3/Jimmy White's Cueball II
