LucasArts' new shooter

Game based on Obi-Wan will continue the Jedi Knight tradition

In a press conference this morning, LucasArts announced the next game in their Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. Entitled Episode I: Obi-Wan, the game is a first-person shooter/action game based on the life and deeds of one of the most famous Jedi Knights of all time, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

During the press conference, LucasArts briefly described the game and rolled some video footage showing off gameplay. The game uses motion-capture techniques to capture the Jedi's patented moves and sabre fighting techniques. Look out for it sometime between autumn and winter.

In other LucasArts news, the company revealed Episode I: The Insider's Guide, a multimedia CD-ROM focusing on the making of the Phantom Menace movie. It will resemble Behind the Magic, the CD-ROM guide to the original trilogy.

The Insider's Guide will come out in June, with a DVD-ROM version a possibility in the future.
