ECTS: Gran Turismo 2

Extensive test drive at trade show

We finally got to have a good go on Gran Turismo 2, and judging by the irate queue behind us we gave it a pretty thorough test drive. We weren't disappointed, even though many of the features were unavailable. Here's a list of some of the outstanding new additions:

Off road racing. This was a separate option on the main menu, and while it wasn't working at the show, we were led to believe that it will be a pretty comprehensive rally sim.

20 all-new courses.

Approximately 60 licence tests. Best of all, you can use your Gran Turismo saves to automatically qualify for comparative licences in GT2.

Over 500 different cars to choose from.

33 manufacturers from around the world (eight US, six Japanese and 19 European).

Signs at the Sony exhibit stated that the European release is still scheduled for November, so we'll expect some preview code in the very near future, eh Sony? For now you'll have to settle for the lovely new screenshot - Driver springs to mind...
