Codemasters to control, publish and develop Yosemite properties

European developer and publisher Codemasters have taken their first step into the American development arena, having acquired a few of our lost friends from Yosemite, the defunct arm of Sierra and Havas.

The online multiplayer game The Realm, which has been live since 1996, will continue to survive under Codemasters' new ownership, with details to be released later regarding any changes.

Of more immediate relevance, the squad-based sim Navy SEALS will continue development after being suspended earlier this year because of Yosemite's closure. What's interesting is the fact that Codemasters will not only retain the rights to both games, but to the Yosemite imprint as well. Even the original Yosemite building will be used for continued development of the games.
