Rage Against The (French) Machine

Rage Software buy flight sim developer DID from Infogrames UK

The English office of French developer Infogrames are selling their flight sim developer, DID, for £5.5 million to Rage Software. Because no one carries around £5.5 million in cash, Infogrames UK will get roughly 18 million Rage shares in exchange.

While Infogrames will apparently still publish DID's upcoming Euro-fighter simulation, Typhoon, in Europe, all is not well. The announcement of the deal comes after an apparent walkout by 30 DID workers earlier this week at the company's English headquarters. Though Rage officials issued no comment on the walkout, Rage CEO Paul Finnegan was happy to share his thoughts on the acquisition.

"We believe that welcoming the highly regarded DID team into the Rage camp will be of a major benefit to Rage, immediately establishing us at the very forefront of the popular flight simulation market sector," he said. "DID have an impressive record of producing hit titles and also bring with them one of the most sophisticated driving engines in the industry, based upon their fantastic 3Dream engine."
