Smiths To Step-Up In-Store Copying

Number of titles double in two months

WH Smiths plan to extend their in-store software duplication service over the next year. The scheme is already installed in three London stores, enabling staff to burn PC and Mac CDs on demand, saving storage and shipping costs.

"We hope to have the system installed into all of our stores eventually," a WH Smiths spokesperson told trade-mag, MCV. "It's certainly a big part of our multimedia strategy."

So what does this mean for the punter? Hopefully, it means a reduction in software prices. On the other hand, the money saved in transportation and warehousing could just mean bigger profits for WH Smiths.
