Mad Catz and Sega Sign Deal

10 licensed peripherals on the way

Sega have signed a licensing deal with Mad Catz, allowing the peripheral manufacturer to use Sega technology and other intellectual property in the creation of Mad Catz branded peripherals for the Dreamcast platform.

"This agreement is very significant for Mad Catz," said Whitney Peterson, vice president of corporate development for the company. "Not only does it allow Mad Catz to make sure our peripherals are 100% compatible with all Dreamcast games, but it also serves to greatly strengthen the relationship between ourselves and Sega. Initially, ten Mad Catz peripherals will be licensed, including our highly successful steering wheels, the six-button control pad, the Blaster, Force Pack, a PC keyboard converter and a memory unit."

This deal makes Mad Catz the only licensed third-party Dreamcast peripheral manufacturer. Other companies are likely to be crushed by the corporate behemoth, as recently demonstrated by Sony.
