Square confirm plans to release Final Fantasy XI simultaneously for PS2 in Japan and the US
Several Japanese websites today posted new information with regard to Square's upcoming online-only role-playing game, Final Fantasy XI. Firstly, the sites reported that Final Fantasy XI will be released for PlayStation2 and for PC simultaneously in Japan. Furthermore, it was reported that the game would see a simultaneous release for PlayStation2 in the US and in Japan. What's more, Square EA confirmed that US game players would be able to play with Japanese game players via Square's PlayOnline service. However, the company had no information with regard to a PC release of the game.
Final Fantasy XI is currently scheduled for a summer 2001 release for PS2 and we'll have more information on the game and the rest of Square's PlayStation2 line-up as it becomes available.
