What's hot in the land of raw fish and schoolgirls' knickers
After what seems like an eternity the unimaginable has happened - the Japanese game charts aren't topped by those pesky Pokémon. Pokémon Silver has plunged to number four after shifting a mere (ahem) 79,720 units for the week of January 24 - 30. Its evil sibling, Pokémon Gold, dropped from second position to a paltry sixth in the same period after sales of 65,318. Total combined sales for the two Game Boy titles currently stands at 5,855,178. The best-selling game of all time in Japan is currently Super Mario Bros on the NES, with sales of 6.18 million.
Respect is due to Capcom's PlayStation shooter Bio Hazard Gun Survivor, which sensationally slam-dunked into the top spot with 167,909 sales in its first week. And things are looking up for Sega too, with Crazy Taxi and Roommania #203 charting at five and 10 respectively.
