Everyone was disappointed to hear that Rare have dropped the face-mapping feature from Perfect Dark, while only a few questioned why. Most of us assumed that the UK developers had encountered technical difficulties with the Game Boy Camera and had decided to drop the feature to spare the public from further delays. We were wrong. Apparently, they decided to drop it on moral grounds, in a bid to prevent kids from running around shooting their teachers and the like. Fair enough, we say. How could anyone have doubted Rare's technical prowess?
A small group of die-hard programmers are currently working on an updated version of the classic Carrier Command for the PC. It's looking dead impressive, even at this early stage, as you can see from the screenshots on their website. Best of all, if you're an artist or programmer, you may want to get involved in this exciting project. Contact details are also available on the site. Any games publishers reading this could also do a lot worse than taking a look at what these guys are doing off their own bats. Give them some money - we reckon Carrier 2 is going to be massive!
Anyone who hasn't bought Gran Turismo 2 yet must be mad - we gave it a whopping 95 per cent and we're nearly always right. If you're one of the GT2-less few, head on over to the Electronics Boutique website where you can order a copy online for just £22.99. What a bargain! Scrap that... wait a second... cripes alive! A quick look at the GAME website reveals that they've undercut EB by a quid - they're flogging the splendid racer for a measly £21.99. Where will it end? Your move, EB...
We've been running a competition to win a PlayStation for the last couple of weeks and all you had to do to stand a chance of winning was answer this simple question:
Name the two corporations that hold the balance of power in Ace Combat 3.
The answer, of course, was General Resource Ltd and Neucom Inc.
The first correct answer pulled randomly from the electronic pile was Des Skinner from Crowborough. Congrats Des, there's a PlayStation in the post.
The four runners up who each win themselves a copy of the game are Robert Gaskell, Harpenden; Danny Brotherton, Stoke-on-Trent; Markku Kaurila; and Nigel Laudat, Liverpool. Congratulations people, the games are on their way to you.
