First Details on US Versions of Dead or Alive 2

Tecmo talk DC exclusivity and reveal release dates for home and arcade versions of their fighter

Tecmo today confirmed solid plans for the American version of Dead or Alive 2, on both the arcade and Dreamcast fronts. The game, which has already been released in arcades across Japan, is likely to see a stateside arcade release by December. Tecmo are currently working on finding an appropriate distributor, but once that's taken care of, you could be seeing this killer game in an arcade near you. Regarding previous concerns that the tag team feature of the game hadn't made it into the final build, our Tecmo rep commented that to his knowledge, the unique feature which forces the Naomi to display up to three characters on-screen simultaneously is indeed in there.

As for the Dreamcast version, Tecmo are currently aiming for a US release in February. Furthermore, current plans see the title being made available exclusively for Dreamcast, in contrast to previous reports that the game may be released on PlayStation2 as well.

So how exactly is work coming along on the Dreamcast version? The title is currently around 60 per cent complete, and it's expected that there won't be any visual difference from the arcade game. The game's original Japanese developers, Team Ninja, are on the case, handling the port over in Japan.

Wondering about those awesome in-game cinemas before and after the fights in the arcade version? Those will make their way into the DC version as well, and the developers are currently undecided on subtitling or dubbing, although the rep we spoke to seemed to be hoping for subtitles.

Further solid information on the game should be available in early December, so be sure to check back then.
